15 individuals regain vision at Bishnupur camp
More than 8,000 people visited the Sebaashray camps at Satgachia today.
A complaint has been filed on behalf of Abhishek Banerjee, the Diamond Harbour MP and Trinamul Congress national general secretary with Meta for unauthorised access to his official Facebook page and alteration of his personal information.
The letter to Meta points out the missing Trinamul Congress name from the MP’s ‘bio’.

The letter written on Wednesday by advocate Sanjay Basu states: “My client’s official Facebook page mentions the following in his “Bio”: “The Official page of Abhishek Banerjee |Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha)|National General Secretary, All India Trinamool Congress”.

However, on 11.02.2025, it was brought to my client’s attention by his well wishers that my client’s “Bio” on his official Facebook Page has stopped reflecting the term “All India Trinamool Congress” and only mentioned the following: “The Official page of Abhishek Banerjee |Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha)|National General Secretary”.
Copies of the original Bio and the illegally altered Bio are enclosed herewith and collectively marked as “A”.
Upon receiving such information, my client verified the same on his official Facebook page and found that the information was indeed correct and that the term “All India Trinamool Congress” is missing from the Bio. Such a change was neither undertaken nor authorised by my client.
My client states that this incident is a serious breach of security of my client’s account. My client, being a Member of Lok Sabha, holds a public office and his Facebook account serves not only as a platform for expression of his personal views, but also an essential channel for communication with his supporters, colleagues and constituents. It is rather alarming that the Facebook account belonging to my client which is also verified by Facebook with “Blue Tick” has been unauthorisedly accessed and critical details regarding my client have been illegally altered, without any intimation to my client.”
The advocate has asked Meta to initiate a thorough prove as to how this breach occurred.
